Product Details

  • 产品描述
  • USi-2301 — γ-Glycidoxypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPS)

High-Reactivity Epoxy Silane for Maximum Adhesion, Composite Performance & Formulation Stability

    CAS No.: 2530-83-8
    EINECS No.: 219-784-2
    Molecular Weight: 236.34
    Synonyms:

    • Glymo
    • [3-(2,3-Epoxypropoxy)propyl]trimethoxysilane
    • Glycidyl 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyl ether

✅ The most widely used epoxy-functional silane—offering faster hydrolysis than ethoxy analogs and superior coupling efficiency in demanding composite, adhesive, and coating applications.

    📄 Product Description

USi-2301 combines a highly reactive epoxy (glycidyl) group with three hydrolyzable methoxy groups, enabling it to form robust chemical bridges between inorganic substrates (glass, metals, minerals) and organic polymers (epoxies, polyurethanes, acrylics, etc.).

    Key molecular advantages:

    • Trimethoxy structure → faster hydrolysis vs. triethoxy analogs (e.g., USi-2302)
    • Shorter alkoxy chains → higher silanol density on surfaces → stronger interfacial bonding
    • Epoxy ring reacts with –NH₂, –OH, and carboxyl groups under mild conditions

This makes USi-2301 ideal for high-performance systems requiring rapid cure, maximum adhesion, or long-term moisture resistance.

    (Chemical structure: OCH₂–CH–CH₂–O–(CH₂)₃–Si(OCH₃)₃)

    🌟 Key Benefits & Differentiators

    ⚡ Faster Hydrolysis & Condensation

    • Methoxy groups hydrolyze ~3–5× faster than ethoxy groups → quicker surface bonding
    • Ideal for fast-cure systems or low-moisture environments

    🔗 Superior Interfacial Strength

    • Enhances flexuraltensile, and impact strength in composites
    • Prevents filler debonding under thermal or mechanical stress

💧 Exceptional Moisture & Chemical Resistance

    • Reduces water vapor transmission by forming a dense, hydrophobic interface
    • Improves resistance to acids, alkalis, and salt spray—critical for automotive and marine applications

    🧪 Enhanced Formulation Stability

    • Unlike amino silanes, epoxy silanes like USi-2301 do not catalyze side reactions in polyurethanes
    • Offers longer pot life and better storage stability in PU sealants/adhesives

🌀 Improved Processing of Filled Systems

    • Reduces filler agglomeration and sedimentation
    • Lowers melt/compound viscosity → higher throughput, smoother extrusion

    🏭 Key Applications

🧵 Glass Fiber Sizing & Reinforced Composites

    • Core ingredient in sizing formulations for E-glass, S-glass, and woven fabrics
    • Used in wind energyaerospaceautomotive, and construction composites
    • Boosts interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and fatigue resistance

    🧪 Foundry & Polyurethane Resins

    • Added to PU cold-box or no-bake binders to improve:
      • Green/hot strength
      • Shakeout behavior
      • Humidity resistance during storage
    • Preferred over amino silanes due to no premature curing

    🎨 Adhesives, Sealants & Coatings

    • As additive or primer in:
      • Epoxy structural adhesives
      • Silicone-modified PU sealants
      • Industrial maintenance coatings
    • Ensures permanent adhesion to glass, aluminum, and galvanized steel—even after 1000+ hrs humidity exposure

    ⚙️ Mineral-Filled Polymers

    • Pretreats silica, clay, CaCO₃, talc for use in:
      • Engineering plastics (PA6, PBT)
      • Unsaturated polyester (SMC/BMC)
      • Elastomers (EPDM, silicone)
    • Enables >60% filler loading without sacrificing mechanical properties

    🖌️ Primer for Difficult Substrates

    • Applied as a dilute solution (1–2%) to glass/metal before painting or bonding
    • Eliminates need for chromate or phosphate pretreatments in many cases

    📦 Packaging

    • 25 kg HDPE pail
    • 200 kg steel drum
    • 1000 kg IBC tote

(All containers are sealed under dry nitrogen to prevent premature hydrolysis)

    🛡️ Safety & Storage

    • Flammable liquid – keep away from heat, sparks, and open flame
    • Store at or below 25 °C in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area
    • Shelf Life24 months from production date in original unopened 200 kg drums
    • Use PPE: nitrile gloves, safety goggles, and adequate ventilation
    • Always consult the latest Safety Data Sheet (SDS)
