Chemical Structure:
CH₃(CH₂)₂–Si(OCOCH₃)₃USi-A303 combines the proven crosslinking power of acetoxy chemistry with the steric and hydrophobic influence of a n-propyl group:
- Hydrolyzes in the presence of moisture to release acetic acid and form reactive silanols, which condense with silicone polymers to create a durable siloxane network
- The propyl chain imparts:
- Slower cure kinetics compared to methyl/ethyl analogs—useful for deep-section or low-humidity applications
- Enhanced hydrophobicity and flexibility in the cured elastomer
- Reduced volume shrinkage during cure, minimizing stress at bond lines
- Often used in blends with faster acetoxysilanes (e.g., USi-A103 or USi-A203) to fine-tune overall system performance
