H₂N–CH₂–CH₂–NH–(CH₂)₃–Si(CH₃)(OCH₃)₂USi-D1311 combines reactivity with stability through its asymmetric silane architecture:
- Contains two amine functionalities: a reactive primary amine (–NH₂) and a secondary amine (–NH–) that enhance bonding to epoxy, polyurethane, and acidic surfaces
- Features a methyl-dimethoxysilyl group—the methyl substituent reduces crosslink density vs. trialkoxysilanes, allowing:
- Finer tuning of mechanical properties (flexibility vs. rigidity)
- Lower viscosity formulations
- Reduced moisture sensitivity during storage
- Hydrolyzes to form durable Si–O–substrate bonds with glass, minerals, and metals—but with moderated cure kinetics for better process control
