    Silane USi-6041 is a high-purity, non-organoreactive alkoxysilane—chemically known as tetramethoxysilane (TMOS). It rapidly hydrolyzes in the presence of moisture to form reactive silanols that condense into a dense, inorganic silica (SiO₂) network. This makes it a cornerstone precursor in sol-gel chemistry, heat-resistant coatings, and RTV silicone crosslinking.

    Unlike organofunctional silanes (e.g., amino, epoxy, or mercapto types), USi-6041 contains no carbon chain attached to silicon—only four hydrolyzable methoxy groups. Upon exposure to water, it undergoes:

    1. Hydrolysis: Si(OCH₃)₄ + 4H₂O → Si(OH)₄ + 4CH₃OH
    2. Condensation: Si(OH)₄ → SiO₂ (silica network) + 2H₂O

    This reactivity enables its use as a pure inorganic binder, crosslinker, or nanoscale silica source—ideal where organic residues must be minimized.

    Compared to TEOS (USi-6040), TMOS hydrolyzes faster due to the smaller methoxy group, offering quicker gelation in sol-gel processes.
