![Structure: Si(OCH₂CH₃)₄]USi-6042 contains no organic functional group bonded to silicon, distinguishing it from coupling agents like amino or mercapto silanes. Instead, all four ethoxy groups are hydrolyzable, enabling:
- Controlled formation of colloidal silica or silica gel upon exposure to moisture
- Creation of a pure inorganic SiO₂ matrix after curing or calcination
- Excellent adhesion to glass, metal, and mineral surfaces without carbon residue
Compared to TMOS (USi-6041), TEOS hydrolyzes more slowly, offering better process control in casting and coating applications.
