![Structure: CH₃–SiCl₃]USi-6107 is not a coupling agent for direct use in composites or coatings. Instead, it is a key intermediate in organosilicon chemistry:
- The three Si–Cl bonds are highly susceptible to hydrolysis, reacting violently with water to form methylsilanetriol, which rapidly condenses into methylsiloxane networks
- Used to synthesize methyltrimethoxysilane (USi-6101) and methyltriethoxysilane (USi-6102) via alcoholysis
- Essential raw material for methyl-containing silicone resins, water repellents, and sodium methylsiliconate
⚠️ Important: MTCS is flammable, explosive, toxic, and corrosive. It releases hydrogen chloride (HCl) upon contact with moisture—requiring rigorous safety protocols.

🔹 Primary Raw Material for Methyl Alkoxysilanes
- Reacted with methanol or ethanol to produce:
- Methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS, USi-6101)
- Methyltriethoxysilane (MTES, USi-6102)
- These derivatives are widely used as crosslinkers, hydrophobizing agents, and sol-gel precursors
🔹 Synthesis of Silicone Resins
- Provides the methyl-functional monomer unit in MQ, MT, and MDT-type silicone resins
- Imparts thermal stability, water repellency, and flexibility to resin networks
🔹 Manufacture of Waterproofing Agents
- Used to produce sodium methylsiliconate—a common water-repellent for concrete, masonry, and textiles
- Also used in specialty coatings requiring deep penetration and durable protection
