- The ethoxy groups hydrolyze more slowly than methoxy groups → enables better process control, longer pot life, and more uniform end-capping
- Generates ethanol instead of methanol upon reaction—lower toxicity and milder odor, improving workplace safety
- Enhances compatibility with ethanol-containing systems (e.g., certain coatings or release agents)
- Effectively caps silanol (Si–OH) ends in PDMS chains and on fumed silica surfaces, preventing post-condensation and viscosity drift
Like USi-6221, it is not a coupling agent—its value lies in internal stabilization of silicone matrices.
