- The triethoxysilane group hydrolyzes to form silanols that condense with hydroxylated filler surfaces (silica, clay, CaCO₃), creating strong Si–O–filler bonds
- Compared to methoxy analogs (e.g., USi-7301), the ethoxy groups offer:
- Slower hydrolysis rate → better pot life in moisture-sensitive formulations
- Lower volatility and odor → improved workplace safety and handling
- Enhanced compatibility with ethanol-containing or polar systems
